The "Original Dark" is a premium rum from Barbados and Jamaica. After storage in the countries of origin, the individual rums are shipped to France to the cellars of Cognac Ferrand, where they are married and left to mature for several months.

The French company "Cognac Ferrand" is actually specialized in cognac. However, since it repeatedly supplied Caribbean distilleries with former Cognac barrels, first contacts were made. When the owner, Alexandre Gabriel, was invited to a rum tasting on a visit to the Caribbean, he was so enthusiastic about the spirit that he decided without further ado to launch the Plantation Rum series. Plantation Rums is produced without centralised, industrial production: distillation takes place directly in the sugar cane growing region.

The "Plantation Original Dark" is a premium blend of molasses rums that were initially stored in their countries of origin, Barbados and Jamaica. In Barbados, the maturing period was only one to three years; in Jamaica, however, High Ester Rum distilled in Pot Stills rested for between ten and 15 years. Once blended, the rum then receives a unique finish in France, where it is harmonized for three to six months in a large wooden vat in the cellars of Cognac Ferrand. The rum, which is predestined for blending, reveals notes of plum, banana and vanilla, intertwined with tones of cloves and cinnamon.
