MARS Maltage KOMAGATAKE Single Malt Whisky 70 cl / 48 % Japan

The Komagatake Limited Edition 2018 is manufactured in the Japanese Alpine region by the Mars Shinshu Distillery. For this non-chill-filtered single malt you use slightly peaty malt of different cereals which gives the whiskey a fine touch of toasted flavors.

The whiskey is burnt in the Shinshu Distillery, but its whiskey is not stored exclusively in the highest distillery in Japan. Certain New American White Oak and ex-Bourbon barrels rest on the second site of Mars Whiskey, in the Tsunuki Distillery. The warm and humid climate in the very south of Japan, on the island of Yakushima, makes the whiskey ripen faster.

For the Komagatake, younger whiskeys from both warehouses are put together. Jünger Destillate certainly because the highest whiskey distillery in Japan had to close its doors between 1992 and 2011. The reason for this was a "whiskey crisis" around the turn of the millennium and also called for other distilleries to this decision. Despite young single malts and also without age on the label, a tender 100% Japanese whiskey is produced with notes of ripe plums and floral essences.
