AUCHENTOSHAN Three Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70 cl / 43 % Schottland

Scottish whiskeys are traditionally divided into Highland and Lowland whiskeys. The birthplace of the Auchentoshan Three Wood north of Glasglow is geographically part of the Central Lowlands and is virtually at the transition from low to highlands. Like many other Scottish whiskey distilleries, Auchentoshan Distillery has undergone numerous changes of ownership. It was founded in 1823, with some experts assume that it emerged from the founded in 1800 Duntocher Distillery. The truly special thing about the manufacturing process is the triple distillation that all single malt Scotch whiskeys of this brand go through. In fact, the spirits are the only Scottish single malts that are distilled three times. During this process the alcohol content of the liquid increases from 8% to 81%. As a result, the fruit and citrus notes and later also the woody aroma of the oak barrels are more effective. The multi-award winning Auchentoshan Three Wood has its name not by chance: It matured first in American bourbon barrels, then in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and then in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. After ten years of storage, the Auchentoshan Three Wood is finally bottled at a drinking strength of 43% in 70cl bottles.
