The name of the Maund (Jamaican) rum from the Swiss brand "The Wild Alps" goes back to the passionate alpinist and hunter John Oakley Maund, who became famous above all for his ascents in the Montblanc massif. In Weggis on Lake Lucerne and in Schoppernau in Vorarlberg he had a total of three villas built according to the plans of William Morris. The houses in typical English cottage style are still standing today. To extraordinary notoriety, however, the Villa Maund, around which numerous legends entwine. The German Crown Prince Wilhelm used the house for a time as a hunting lodge, and many celebrities went in and out. Finally, the Villa Maund inspired the creations of The Wild Alps.
