Tanqueray ROYALE BLACKCURRANT 70 cl / 41.3 % UK
Tanquery Royale Blackcurrant gets its bright purple color from the addition of French blackcurrants that dominate the flavor along with vanilla.
he globally marketed Tanqueray brand belongs to the Diageo spirits group and was launched in 1830 by a certain Charles Tanqueray, who had a distillery built in the Bloomsbury district of London. His gin soon became popular in the British colonies, such as Jamaica and the United States, where it was mainly used as an ingredient in the Dry Martini cocktail. Incidentally, it is rumored that the bottle design is based on a three-piece cocktail shaker. After the distillery was razed to the ground during air raids in 1941 (except for one still, which is still in use today), production moved out of London. Since 1998, Tanqueray brand gins have been produced at Diageo's massive Cameronbridge Distillery.
Tanqueray Royal Blackcurrant joins the distillery's series of flavored gins as the latest offspring. It is said to be inspired by Charles Tanqueray's travels through France in the 1840s. The blackcurrants included are from France and not only give the gin a striking color, but are noticeable in the taste. For some sweetness also provides vanilla.
