Thomas Fentiman came to brewing by a rather unusual route: In 1905, a merchant is said to have asked him for a loan. As collateral, he gave Fentiman a recipe for herbally brewed ginger beer. Since the merchant never repaid his loan, the recipe remained in Fentiman's possession. And so he began making the ginger beer, experimenting with it over the following years. In the process, Fentiman created a cola drink with fermented ginger root extract, invigorating catuaba and guarana extracts, among other ingredients. Curiosity Cola is therefore far from being a conventional soda. Cocktails such as Dirty Henry, Air Conditioner, Carribean Nightmare, Long Island Ice Tea and Whisky Cola can be prepared with it.
