The Angostura 1919 Blended Rum is composed of average eight year old distillates stored in charred oak barrels. The year is an allusion to a historic camp fire that left some barrels filled with old rum - kale black - but intact.

The "Angostura 1919" is a specially blended and award-winning rum. The individual distillates, which are united in this rum, stored for up to ten years in charred oak barrels from America. This rum got its name from the few barrels that had withstood the camp fire in 1932, and to the astonishment of all remains of a rum from the year 1919 included.
The Angostura distillery is located in the heart of the Caribbean, on the island of Trinidad. The history of the distillery began in 1820, when Johann Benjamin Siegert, a German physician and scientist, settled in Venezuela. In the 20th century, the farm passed into the hands of various landlords before returning to the Siegert family in the early 1940s. The distillery gained worldwide fame especially for its bitter. However, Angostura also has excellent rum on offer and is even one of the most important rum producers in the entire Caribbean region.
