The Kavalan Ex-Bourbon is a single malt from Taiwan that after aging burns in old bourbon American oak barrels. He was awarded Gold in 2016 at the International Spirits Competition.


In 2005, T.T. Lee dreamed up his own and founded his own whiskey distillery in Taiwan, which he named after the name of a Taiwanese native tribe. There is high humidity and temperatures 15 ° C above the Scottish average. It soon became clear that storage periods of twelve years or more in Taiwan would not be possible. However, the team of the Kavalan Distillery was not deterred by this and has meanwhile brought various whiskeys onto the market, with which they have already won numerous international awards. The ex-Bourbon Cask is a single malt and, in principle, a weaker kavasan soloist stored in former bourbon American oak barrels and adjusted to 46% alcohol content with spring water from the central Taiwanese highlands.
