HENNESSY VS Very Special Cognac 70 cl / 40 % France

The Hennessy VS is the standard distillate of the most famous cognac house in the world: Founded in 1765 in Cognac (in German obsolete also known as Kognak or Konjak) by the Irish officer Richard Hennessy, the house is now managed in the eighth generation by Gilles Hennessy, even though it now belongs to the French luxury group LVMH.

The Hennessy VS must be at least two years old to be allowed to wear the classification VS - very special. In fact, some of the eaux-de-vie from which it is composed mature for up to eight years in new French Limousin oak barrels, making the Hennessy VS indeed very special!

The new oak barrels give the Hennessy VS a very intense tannin note, which makes this cognac a very direct and aromatic brandy that appeals to the senses. More than 40 different eaux-de-vie from Hennessy's cellars are selected according to their respective characteristics and blended into the Hennessy VS, which is bottled at 40% alcohol content in the typical, stocky bottles with long necks.

The Hennessy VS is characterized by a clear amber color and an intense bouquet with distinct woody and fruity notes accompanied by a fine spiciness. This aroma is rounded off by a strong, but not exaggerated, shot of vanilla. On the palate, the Hennessy VS presents itself with a body as complex as it is soft, thanks to its base wines from the Grand Cru sites of Petite Champagne. Fruity apricot and peach elements enter into a lively and harmonious alliance with vanilla and oak, which makes the Hennessy VS an excellent cognac also for mixed drinks. The long finish, however, also recommends it for pure enjoyment!
