An eight-year-old Bacardi rum from the production site in the Bahamas Islands.
Don Facundo Bacardi Masso bought the first Bacardi rum distillery in Calle Matadero in Santiago de Cuba in 1862 for just 3,500 pesos (about CHF 200). This created the birthplace of a new breed of rum production, as Don Facundo quickly realized that the current rums were too unripe and harsh for the emerging, cultured middle classes of Cuba. That's why he introduced new techniques that he took away from European production methods or even developed them himself. He also used high-quality ingredients, including a unique yeast that he had discovered in the sugar cane fields around Santiago de Cuba. Don Facundo's spirit of innovation paid off: Today, Bacardi has long established itself as a classic among rum brands. Already in its eighth generation, the company is successfully managed.
The "Bacardi 8 Años" is a rum that has been stored for at least eight years in carefully selected North American barrels. Filled into the glass and tasted pure, the aromas of plums, apricots, nutmeg, vanilla and, of course, oak wood, which are absorbed by the barrel, come into their own.
