This extra-matured blend is reminiscent of an urban legend. As a result, a wooden devil awoke over the entrance to Dublin's impoverished neighborhood, The Liberties, until one night he fell victim to some cunning whiskey-makers.
Although the building of The Dublin Liberties Distillery has a moving, 400-year history, the operation itself is quite young: after all, the words "Est 2016" decorate the company logo with the oak barrel. The historic district of The Liberties developed during the 17th century and was long known as the center of weaving and wool factories. However, the Irish business lobby along with the government made life difficult for the workers and imposed an export ban on wool products. Added to this were other changes in the law and unfavorable historical events that increasingly affected national textile production - the district became increasingly impoverished and eventually became a social hotbed. But not only because of this, the Dublins described the area as "hell": According to legend, a big wooden devil at the entrance to The Liberties, but one day disappeared mysteriously. It was rumored that crafty cooper had made whiskey barrels from the wood. And who knows? Maybe this wood is still in circulation today. Called "Oak Devil," the makers of this whiskey want to draw attention to the fateful story of their location in The Liberties. The 46% spirit is presented in a black bottle with a fiery red devil's image. The whiskey itself is a blend of double-distilled malt and grain whiskey, which then stored for another three years in bourbon barrels.
