The Jameson Irish Whiskey is a blend of "Pot Still Whiskey" and "Grain Whiskey" and is distilled three times. He spends the maturing time in sherry and bourbon barrels.

John Jameson, a native of Scotland, gave up his rewarding civil service job and sailed to Ireland to found his distillery in 1780 on Dublin's famous Bow Street in 1780 - as always, of course, with the goal of making the world's most outstanding whiskey. Did he succeed? The numbers speak for themselves at least: Jameson whiskey is one of the world's best-selling and internationally fastest-growing Irish whiskey brand. The original is a triple-distilled blend of Pot Still Whiskey (= made from malted and unmalted barley) and Grain Whiskey (= made from any grain mash and baked in coffee stills). The special procedure and maturation in sherry and bourbon casks give it a very mild taste with piquant-spicy, nutty and vanilla notes and a hint of sherry.
Since 1971, the distillery on Bow Street has continued as an information center and show distillery, while production has been relocated to southern Midleton. Every day there meet the "masters" of whiskey production: These include Cooper Master Buckley, distiller nation, whiskey master Quinn (who is responsible for the scientifically proven manufacturing methods), maturing master O'Gorman and blending champion Leighton. Jameson whiskeys are not smoky unlike Scottish whiskeys - this is because the drying of the malted barley takes place in closed kilns.
