On 6 October 1834 Johann Guggenbühler brewed beer for the first time at the «Löwengarten» brewery in Lucerne. In 1922 it merged with the Bavarian brewhouse on the Eichhof estate, and since 1960 the company has been called Brauerei Eichhof. It has belonged to Heineken Switzerland since 2008.
