Nevertheless, the Pikesville was never gone, as the distillery had large inventories. Since 1982, the Heaven Hill Distillery continues the legacy of the Pikesville Straight Rye and part of American whiskey history. Today, the award-winning Rye Whiskey is produced at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. This American Rye whiskey consists of 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% barley and is aged for 6 years, giving the product a pale copper color. Aromas of fine cocoa notes with oak wood smoke are complemented on the palate by honey-rye sweetness and clove, whereby the whiskey here is dry and soft. The finish is soft-spicy and contains vanilla.
