Jack Daniel's is the superstar among whiskey brands in terms of brand awareness. No other whisky company probably makes as much turnover with merchandising as the company from Lynchburg, Tennessee. Born in 1846, Jasper Newton Daniel (known to most as Jack Daniel) is said to have learned the craft of whisky distilling as a young child. In 1860, when he was only 14 years old, he took over the distillery where he worked. In 1886 the distillery was licensed and is the oldest registered distillery in the USA.
