Friends of dominant orange notes get their money's worth with this Malfy Gin, where the label design and the tint of the content reveal that the gin is so full of Sicilian blood oranges.

As turquoise as the Italian mountain lakes (or even the shallow Mediterranean gullet) and as bright orange as the blood oranges from Sicily is the label of Malfy Gins. Three times you come across the Letter G.Q.D.I., which means something like "quality gin from Italy". The name seems to be a marketing strategy invention of the manufacturer, because except the Malfy Gin nobody uses the acronym. The idea for the gin came when distillery owner Carlo Vergnano and distiller Beppe Ronco boarded the nearby Monviso Mountain and found not only the clearest spring water, but also wild juniper bushes. Together with the large variety of citrus fruits that are native to Italy, the men had all the key ingredients for a gin nearby. Initially, the Vergnano family, which since 1992 has run a distillery built in 1906 in Moncalieri near Turin, made the Malfy Gin in small batches. However, when Elwyn Gladstone, founder of Biggar & Leith, became aware of it, he suggested a collaboration - the audience should become bigger and more global. The production remains in the hands of Carlo, his wife and their children, as well as Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni.
The gin variety "Con Arancia" focuses more on Sicilian blood oranges, which are harvested in November. The shells of these coveted citrus fruits are full of alcohol; the sap resulting from a squeeze is then mated with juniper and six other botanicals to collectively undergo the distillation process. The taste is determined by a refreshing citrus fruit.
